Uncommon Discussion with Gregg Hymowitz on the Common Good

In pre-United States election news broadcast on Cavuto on Business Gregg Hymowitz along with other commentators express their opinion on how democrats versus republicans view what is “the common good.”

Democratic candidates defined themselves and their party as “the party representing the ‘common good.’” What this means is explained in this informative, interesting video.

According to former president Bill Clinton, the democratic position on the common good is characterized by equal opportunity and empowerment for everyone, the republicans believe the common good is best served by the highest concentration of wealth in the hands of ‘right people.’

Hymowitz Home Designed to a Tee

It’s not easy designing a home to please a high-finance analyst like Gregg Hymowitz while simultaneously accommodating the needs and tastes of a trio of pre-teen girls like his daughters, ages 8, 11, and 13, but Julie Hillman, designer, rose to the task.
As a for instance, take the living room. A deal was cut with the girls that they would not watch television in the living room while eating. I’m sure this will be a difficult promise to keep, considering the living room is furnished with a jazzy Rat Pack-era glass-cylinder chandelier which only just barely avoids obstructing the view from the sofa to the plasma screen T.V. situated over the fireplace. To make it up to the Hymowitz girls Hillman installed another T.V. in the dining room, cleverly hidden in the French steel cabinet circa 1970.
To top off the T.V. spaces Hillman included one more T.V. on the top-floor landing, between the girl’s rooms opposite a pair of Marco Zanuso wing chairs, of course upholstered in white and pink.

Designed to Please: Hymowitz Girls Share Pad with Dad

Julie Hillman, designer of the 4900 square foot house for the Hymowitz Family, Gregg and three daughters, ages 13, 11, and 8, is the mother of a daughter who is friends with one of the Hymowitz girls. She therefore has her finger on the pulse of what girls like, and she designed wonderful bedrooms for them.

Each bedroom begins with an exciting rug with a pop-art graphic. Add to that an exquisite vintage Verner Panton chandelier for a great lighting effect. Then each room has at least one amazing piece of furniture: whether it was an aluminum folding desk from the 1940’s; Panton’s Living Tower; or an Eero Aarnio suspended Bubble chair, the rooms were perfect for the girls.

Dad’s room is quite another matter altogether. From the luxurious bed upholstered in dark brown patent leather covered with a splendid fox blanket, to the white goatskin rug, Hillman designed a bedroom to make the most dedicated bachelor blush.
